Adventures In Wedding Planning : Rain Rain, Go Away!
We were supposed to take our engagement photos today. Sadly, the weather didn’t get the memo and decided to rain instead. Oh well….we need the rain so I can’t be that sad.
Not exactly the look we were going for, you know?
What saved the day for me is a convo my girlfriends and I had about the evils of the wedding industry in addition to eating pizza today.
First things first. Pizza!!!
I haven’t had pizza for almost two months. This is because I’ve been on Engagement Photo Diet. I can’t work out now so the only thing I can do is to watch what I eat. Lemme say this has worked WONDERS. Holy crap. Therefore, what better way to cheer myself up than to EAT PIZZA??!! Pizza always makes me happy no matter if I’m sad or already happy.
I can give in because :
-what’s the point of living if you can’t enjoy your favorite foods in moderation?
*key word = moderation.
– we rescheduled. The new date is almost a full month away! I have plenty of time!
So what did I do to slim down without ever working out? Easy. I went back to the basics – watch what you eat. I took a class in nutrition when I was cramming in all my prereqs for nursing school. One bit of information that stuck with me was this –
At least 80% of weight management is what you eat. The rest is working out.
What does this mean? I’ll tell you what it doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean you can survive off of a diet of water and carrots. Don’t starve yourself because that’s no way to lose weight and keep it off. You’ll definitely gain all the weight back and it’s definitely not healthy.
I slimmed down over the last two months just by making good food choices.
– Increased the amount of fresh fruits. I ate at least 3 servings a day.
– Increased the amount of fresh veggies. I like to steam, oven bake and grill. No frying.
– Increased the amount of whole grains. I like steel cut oatmeal and Kashi cereals.
– Increased the amount of water I drank. I usually drink about 1.5 to 2 liters a day.
– Increased the amount of meatless meals. I like Morningstar products. I really want to try their tomato basil pizza patty.

I love cherries!!
– Did not eat anything fried. This means no cutlets, no fries, no tempura.
– Did not eat any fast food (except that one time I had a triple triple at In-N-Out. I had it ONCE. Oh, and that awesome all meat carne asada burrito from King Taco)
– Did not eat any processed meats. All the meat I ate was either a lean cut or fresh fish.
– Did not eat any junk foods. This means no chips, no ice cream, etc.
– Restricted consumption of treats like PinkBerry (I could sit with my mouth open under the nozzle all day. So good…but I didn’t do that) and air popped popcorn with no butter.
That’s basically it. I eat 3 times a day and have at least 2 snacks. My snacks consist of Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of honey and Kashi cereal, fresh fruits, dates (I love dates!!! They’re so sweet! It’s like eating candy!!), almonds and seasoned seaweed. I especially love the Japanese teriyaki flavored ones and the Korean roasted ones. So yummy! :9
My girlfriends and I also planned our triple wedding in under 15 minutes. We were going to go to this ghetto wedding chapel and recycle our bridesmaid dresses for each other. Our reception was going to be at Karnak, (this Korean club in Ktown) because they have a live band! They also have a smoke machine (a perfect and classy touch for the first dance. …ahahahaha….), waiters (yay, Nemo!!!!), a dance floor, a kitchen, valet and SECURITY!!!
Ta da! Instant wedding in a nutshell and everyone has a good time. ^_^
